Help With This Mitzvah Project!

We received a letter from Matthew and Emily Goldsten from Woodmere, NY. Please read the below and try to help them with their inspiring Mitzvah Project. Deadline is Friday, March 6.

Dear Mitzvah Mail readers,

In light of our upcoming B'nei Mitzvah, we have begun to embark upon a mitzvah project to help raise the morale and overall well being of the soldiers currently stationed in or around the Gaza strip. Our goal is to help these soldiers compensate for the lack of civility on their tours of duty. We want as many soldiers as possible to feel the love and warmth of their fellow Jews in America.

Our project will be a book of words of kindness from all of you. Your letters will add up to become a small book that each soldier will be able to carry around with them wherever they go. The book will also include a t'filat haderech, a traveling prayer. This book will encompass the love and endearment we all share for these brave men and women.

We ask all of you to write a short letter, a sentence, a few words, or even just draw a picture to show what you feel for these Israeli soldiers. But, the book can't be that big because the soldiers will carry it around with them. Please, write what you really feel. Show the soldiers some endearment that is so precious to them. In that department, they are unfortunately and sorely lacking. We want them to really know how we feel, and that we support them until the end.

In order to have this project completed by the time we leave for Israel, we ask that your letters and pictures be e-mailed or mailed to us by Friday, March 6. You can send your finished products to ideas4me@aol.com or 99 Willow Road, Woodmere, NY, 11598.

Thank you!

Matthew and Emily Goldstein

Melony New York

Melony Mazzeo is a stylist and designer in East Williston, NY, who has been designing jewelry and clothing for high-end boutiques and large chains like Bloomies for 20 years. Most recently, she found her niche creating unique gowns and special occasion dresses.

After selling her merchandise to retailers, Melony made a bold decision: she decided to pull her clothing from other people's stores and she opened a showroom in her own home. This saves her clients money (Melony can charge less by eliminating the middle man - the retailer) and it saves her clients time (they can see ALL of Melony's merchandise in one location).

To learn more about Melony, give her a call at 516-742-4679. Tell her the Mitzvah Moms sent you!

Artimus Art

We are officially on vacation this week - although our work is never done! (No one's work is ever done, is it?!) This week, we are working on getting organized, an ever-present chore! And since we have 5 kids between us -- well, you know how that goes! I know that I (Erica) move piles of paperwork from my counter to my kitchen table all day long. Piles of children's artwork, school papers and notices about upcoming fundraisers that I need to continually go through and pare down. I can part with the school papers and the notices - but the artwork! I hate to toss it, but how do you keep it organized??

Enter Artimus Art. This ingenius yet simple idea is for me! Dana Hostage takes your children's art and makes it accessible - she posts them online in a viewing gallery and creates a gorgeous book for you! You can even create e-cards using your children's art. There are 3 different packages with varying prices. There is a discount when you have more than one child! In my opinion, the cost is very reasonable considering the service you are being offered. And we all know the artwork of our children is priceless!

Hand-tastic Art

We've discussed artists and their mediums before - balloons, cakes, even chocolate. These images are ones where artists use their skills to create images on hands. We cannot imagine the amount of patience it takes to create such a masterpiece! Maybe a roving hand artist would be a cool idea for Mitzvah entertainment?

A Family Shares Their Mitzvah with Us

In today's newsletter, we featured a story about the Salzmans two-fold Mitzvah: a family vacation and an intimate weekend. The weekend took place in Westchester, NY, which is "out of town" for the Salzmans.

Of course, vendor recommendations are always important, even more so when you are not from the area where the event is being held. The Salzmans felt that they were directed to some outstanding vendors in the Westchester area that helped their affair really come together.

Perrone Bros. Entertainment
"From the first time we spoke with one of the two brothers that own this company, we felt like we were in good hands." Andrea Salzman says. "All of our guests raved about the company and we plan to use them again for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah."

H and H Photography
"Three days before Noah's Bar Mitzvah they pulled together a beautiful photo montage. We also felt that the videographer, George, who was booked through the photography company, was excellent," Andrea says. "He was very unobtrusive and did an outstanding job."
