There seems to be a debate in the world of invitation etiquette as to whether you send an invitation to a guest you already know CANNOT make it. Do you send an invitation anyway, so they know you thought of them?! Or in case their plans change? Or do you not send it, because you already know they can't make it?! Is sending it then just prompting a gift?!
