Great Notations is an invitation and stationery studio that specializes in the finest collection of papers for every occasion and time in your life.

Whether you want something from their everyday collection or something more sophisticated from their letterpress and engraved lines, Great Notations offers a brilliant selection that will reflect your specail flair and taste.

TIP: Owner Angela DiRenzo has this advice for our Mitzvah Mail readers, "If you're going with custom-made invites, aim to order your invitations when your guest list is final (about three to four months before the party.) Don't order the exact number of invites you'll need - order approximately 25% more. There are always additional guests that need to be invited and the calligrapher will request a certain percentage of extras."

Great Notations can be reached at 917-699-5999. Please tell Angela the Mitzvah Moms sent you!

High-End Designer Remembers Her Mitzvah Days

Lulu Frost designer Lisa Salzer is featured on NY Magazine's Website. We couldn't resist her homage to her Mitzvah days. Here's one of her quotes from the article:

What’s the first designer item you ever bought?
A Vivienne Tam dress when I was 12 years old. It was very nineties, with a Mandarin collar. I thought I was really cool. I grew up on Long Island, so I’m positive I wore it to a bat mitzvah.

Link Your Past to the Present

We recently featured two Mitzvah Finds that have something in common: linking your past to your present for your child's Mitzvah. Here are the cliff notes:

DreamAKippah.com is a Website with what we think is a great idea! The team behind the site can make customized, handmade and heirloom quality kippahs, tallit clips, necklaces, earrings and bracelets by incoprorating a special piece of jewelry that you provide them with. Together, you can create a product with a special link to the past. Check out the full story!

Greenpurse is a unique Website. The owner/designer Tina Wick creates one-of-a-kind handbags and accessories by recylcing pre-used fabric. All of her creations are just unique and innovative. You can purchase handbags from her Website or you can special order The Custom Bag....

Tina will create a custom handbag using fabric from your heirloom clothing such as a wedding dress or a favorite sweater. By creating a handbag out of an existing treasure (that would otherwise hang in the back of your closet or sit in a box in your attic), Tina is allowing you to carry a handbag that is "current" with a story all its own. We think that there is some Mitzvah potential to a custom Greenpurse creation! Check out the Greenpurse Website, and we think you will be inspired! Check out the full story!

The Levy family celebrated their daughter Erica's Bat Mitzvah 2 weeks ago and had a very creative theme, "Smiles Across Am'erica.'" Their 9 handcrafted centerpieces represented 9 states in the US.

The party was great and now those unique centerpieces are all over the living room. "They are beautiful, but I don't know what to do with them," Mitzvah Mom Robyn tells MitzvahMarket.com. "Nothing would make me happier than to find another family who could make use of them."

Here are the nine states represented by the pictures above:

2. Disney World in Florida
3. The White House in Washington D.C.
4. Gambling in Las Vegas (Erica's picture can easily be removed)
5. Mardi Gras in Louisiana

MITZVAHMARKET.COM VOTED ONE OF TOP 200 LEADING MOMS IN BUSINESS IN STARTUPNATION COMPETITION

Jericho, N.Y. – May 4, 2009 – MitzvahMarket.com announced today that it has been recognized as one of the top 200 mom-owned businesses in StartupNation’s 2009 Leading Moms In Business Competition (http://www.startupnation.com/leading-moms-2009). The competition, sponsored by VerticalResponse, recognizes the achievements of mothers across the country who run outstanding businesses.

MitzvahMarket.com is an online resource for all Bar/Bat Mitzvah planning moms and families in the tri-state area. They deliver clever, useful and entertaining ideas on a weekly basis along with profiling a Mitzvah Kid and their Mitzvah Projects through their weekly email newsletters called, Mitzvah Mail.

"Moms across America were honored in this year’s ranking, showing that they’re capable of starting and running successful businesses while managing to balance family, career, home and self," said Rich Sloan, co-founder of StartupNation."Well over 600,000 votes were cast in support of several thousand contestants. What an incredible achievement to be named a winner, and what an inspiration for anyone looking to start their own business.”

"It’s challenging for anyone to start and run a successful business – particularly in this economy. These women are setting the standard for innovation and creativity," said Janine Popick, founder and CEO of VerticalResponse.

StartupNation (www.startupnation.com) launched the first annual Leading Moms in Business Competition in January with the support of VerticalResponse (www.verticalresponse.com) to recognize the achievements of mom entrepreneurs across the US. Winners were selected and ranked according to public votes accumulated from January through March, 2009. The elite 200 win bragging rights, promotional support, and digital winner’s emblems recognizing their achievements as the Leading Moms in Business.

MitzvahMarket.com launched in November 2008 and is fast becoming a must visit online destination for anyone in Bar/Bat Mitzvah planning mode. The Website archives the Mitzvah Mail newsletter ideas, projects and sponsors for all Mitzvah Moms. It also includes a unique Vendor Directory to help shop for Mitzvah related vendors. A Mitzvah Mom is a busy multi-tasking woman who (among other things) is in the midst of planning a Bar/Bat Mitzvah for one or several of her children. The process is tedious and exciting, and takes a few years per child, so the Mitzvah Mom is a captive audience hungry for help.
